FOR CLEON PETERSON
Student project at School of Visual Arts
Instructor—Natasha Jen & Joseph Han
Cleon Peterson is an LA-based artist who is drawing chaotic and violent paintings showing clashing figures and trying to symbolize a ‘struggle’ between power and submission in the fluctuating architecture of contemporary society. His works have aggressive and violent topics that are banned and veiled. He got influenced by comic book artists in his childhood and all his artworks featured similar looking characters. Considering his background and characteristics of works, the Main concept for this book comes from the Fairytale of Brutality, banned and veiled story and applying it to comic book grids and components with his artworks.
